Welcome to the Shadow Mountain Ward Trek Blog

"The passage of time dims our memories and diminishes our appreciation for those who walked the path of pain, leaving behind a tear-marked trail of nameless graves.  But what of today's challenges?  Are there no rocky roads to travel, no rugged mountains to climb, no chasms to cross, no trails to blaze, no rivers to ford?  Or is there a very present need for that pioneer spirit to guide us away from the dangers that threaten to engulf us, and lead us to a Zion of safety?"   --President Thomas S. Monson

We know that there are probably many of you that ask yourselves, "Why are we going all the way to Wyoming, dressed as pioneers, to go and pull handcarts?"  We hope that over the next few months each of you will be able to find the answer to that question yourself.  Trek will mean something different to every person.  We promise that as you participate in this great event you will feel something that you may not have felt before.  You will learn things that you could not learn any other way.  You will learn not only about those brave pioneers who have gone before but will learn something about yourself that you did not know before.  For each of you what you take away from trek will be different but it will remain with you for years to come.

This blog is meant to give you resources that you can use before and after the trek.  Most of those resources are divided into "pages" on the left hand side of the page.  If you open one of those pages you will find links to videos, music, conference talks, packing lists, the Ttrail of Faith" program and many other resources.  In the future we will post pictures and videos of the activities that we are involved in leading up and during trek.  If you have suggestions for things that you would like to see on this blog please let us know. joelanddeanna@hotmail.com.
